Scouting is about being with friends as part of a team, participating in the adventure and opportunities of life. We have a mix of roles working directly with young people, elected executive committee members and an army of parent helpers. We would be delighted to hear from you if you want to get involved.

Name: It could be you....
Role Description: Are you a whizz with glitter, paper plates and cookie dough? Do you love tell stories with funny voices and introducing children to new things they don’t get in school? Do you like walks in the woods and jumping in puddles? If you have reserves of patience for 6 and 7 year olds, have an active imagination and are keen to have a go and try new things - then you could be the person we are looking for. Help us please to preserve and grow Wellesbourne Beavers.
Why Hiring: We currently have 2 uniformed leaders and to run a Beaver section of 24 children it requires a staffing ratio of 1:6 plus the leader-in-charge. We would like to grow the Section as the waiting list and demand for Beavers in Wellesbourne is huge.
They typical term for a Beaver Leader is 2-3 years unless you have an especially keen wish to immortalise your own youth and stay on after your own children have moved to Cubs and Scouts. You do not even need to have your own children. Maybe you were a former Scout or Guide and have finished your Apprenticeship or Uni, or perhaps you are retired or a primary school teacher in your day job. Often a Leader will move through the group too acquiring new skills and new opportunites as they progress.
No prior Scouting or Girl Guiding skills are especially required. You would be joining an established team and all training and support will be given.
Favourite Cake: We can and do accommodate all dietry requirements. You don’t have to be a cake-eater but on camp it helps!

Assistant Scout Leader / Section Assistant (m/f)

Role Description: Do you cherish your own memories of the outdoors, climbing trees, poking fires and games in the woods? Do you share a sense of camaraderie with young people aged 10-14, but also able to engage them to ensure they act responsibly and stay safe? Do you believe children need to be off their gaming machines and instead learning teamwork, developing skills-for-life and an appreciation for the world they do not get in school?
Why Hiring: Our Scout numbers are healthy and growing! Since we have been gifted access to Sherbourne Estate, the children cannot get enough of the fun and adventures at “Skip‘s Lookout”. Running safe weekly activities so that everyone gets a go requires that we divide the children into smaller working groups and to do that we need more adult hands-on help. Eagle and Wolf will burn-out and not be able to continue if we can’t parachute in regular and capable help.
You may come home on a Wednesday evening smelling of smoke and a bit muddy, but back at your desk in the office on Thursday morning it will all seem worthwhile. If camping is not your thing or you have a medical condition do not worry, we build the role with flexibility around the person and what you can do rather than what you can’t.
Favourite Cake: Your charges are often off independently on the activity you set them on, and you seem to magically know your way to the secret cake supply.... anything can happen!
